Book giveaway: True green home

It's time to purge. My office is getting out of control, and I have to do some clearing out before I get swallowed up. I've been sent quite a few books over the past year to review, and I thought I could share the wealth with my readers by giving some of them away while clearing some shelf space for myself.

I'll be giving away one book a week until I've gotten rid of all of them.

First up is National Geographic's True Green Home: 100 Inspirational Ideas for Creating a Green Environment at Home. You can see my original review of the book here.

What do you have to do to win this book? It's simple.
  • Leave a comment in the comment section saying you'd like the book and list one thing that you do around your own home to be more green.
  • Make sure I have a way to contact you if you win. The winner will be chosen randomly. If I chose you and find there is no way to contact you directly, I will chose another random winner. You can either leave you e-mail address in your comment or make sure that that there is a link along with your comment that leads me to contact information.
  • Live in the U.S. Sorry, I can't ship to other countries at the moment.
  • The contest ends at 11:59pm EST on Monday, June 22nd. Winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 24th.

One thing I'd like to green - I need a good cleaning substance to use for toilets and showers. Something that I already have in the house hopefully and that is easy to remember to use!

I would love the book. Like Alison, I'm also trying to find effective, green cleaners to use around the house.

This book looks awesome. I heard a founder of the Green Guide (NGeo) speak a few months ago and I'm sure this elaborates on some simple concepts he shared with the group. As a mom starting my own business I'm looking for simple ways to make my home more green. Currently one of my best tips is to purchase SodaStream if you like to drink seltzer - saves bottles and your wallet as you make your own instead of purchasing bottles of bubbly from the store regularly...

I would love this book. It would give me more inspiration for my blog Sweet Greens. I try to do everything that I can be more green. We bought an Energy Star home, only use natural/organic cleaners and food. We ride our bikes and only take the car for trips that are too far to go to by bike. We pack our lunches for work/school. We have edible landscaping. etc; Thanks for the great giveaway.

Hey there-the giveaway itself is a great idea. I might duplicate to pass on unused/unwanted things in my home. I live in a walkable neighborhood, ride my bike on errands, and do not own a car. Experimenting with composting although this is difficult as I live in a condo.

This book looks awesome! We use eco-friendly cleaning supplies in our house, but I really need to learn more about ways to keep bugs away without icky chemical pest control.

this book sounds amazing - id love it!
im always looking for ways to green up my house. i switched all my lightbulbs to energy efficient ones, though i use sunlight during the day. i dont use plastic bags anymore, but the ones that i have i either recycle or reuse.
i also have been repurposing things - making baskets and gift bags out of newspaper.

I would love the book! I currently have recycled all unwanted household items by either giving them to a homeless shelter or taking them to work for fellow employees to give a home to. I collect all batteries & CDs from my office & recycle them on my own, & besides recycling at home and using reusable bags, riding my bike to work & on errands, my husband & I are looking into a grass roof....

I would love the book. Right now I'm trying to make my skin care greener and less toxic. I'm using jojoba oil as a moisturizer while I use up the rest of my cleanser. When it is gone, I am going to try using a mix of Castor and jojoba oils for the oil only cleansing method.

So far the jojoba is working wonderfully as a moisturizer. I was a bit skeptical, since I have somewhat oily skin, but I only use a tiny amount and have had nothing but good results.

Oooohh! Free books! You know I gotta get in on that.

I have become fanatical lately about reducing the amount of trash in our house. Our recycling pile at the curb is consistently larger than our trash pile these days. Yay!

One of the things I really want to work on is reducing the amount of driving we do each week. That will be a challenge for the girls and I -- out-of-shape wimps who can't stand the summer heat. :)

@deoxy: I have incredibly dry skin with patches of eczema, and I've been loving jojoba oil for a long time now. As a Californian, I'm also glad to be using something somewhat locally sourced. (California's long, jojoba's from the south, I'm from the north.)

I'd be happy to have a copy of the book, as well.

I would absolutely LOVE this book, since I've been finding it a little tricky to green our lifestyle and home. My biggest obstacle to date, and one thing that I would like to do around my home to be more green, is to green my bedroom. I find it especially hard to find "green" bedding in colors and designs that are BOLD and interesting. Thanks for the hance to win your book!
